Daniel trained at the School of Drama and Musical Theater at Göteborg University, Sweden. He received his Bachelor in Musical Theater in 2005. During his last year of school he joined the Gothenburg Operahouse production of Miss Saigon, performed in english language, starring an international cast.
On the side of his daytime rehearsals of leading role Fredrik Egerman in
A Little Night Music and evening performances at the Operahouse Daniel founded the recordlabel Gothenburg Funk Entertainment together with members of his Gothenburgbased funkband BODYSNATCHERS. They released their debutalbum Get on that train in January 2005. This was also Daniel´s professional debut as a songwriter and lyricist.
Following Miss Saigon and graduating school Daniel went straight into the Original Cast of the worldknown composer Stephen Schwartz´ new musical My Fairy Tale. It had its World premiere in November 2005. Daniel was asked to take on the role of alternate Shadow and played the part in Copenhagen and on Danish National Tour for 22 of the 115 planned shows.
In the spring of 2006 Daniel started his collaboration with his german agent leading to numerous audition in Germany. In the autumn of 2006 Daniel was offered Resident Director of the European Tour of RENT, during which he also understudied the leading roles of Mark and Collins. The production toured Germany, The Netherlands and Switzerland performing in english language.
The day after finishing the tour Daniel once again started rehearsals at the Gothenburg Operahouse. This time in the Original Cast of The Lionheart Brothers, a musical based on the famous swedish book written by Astrid Lindgren. He was asked to understudy the leading male role of Jonatan Lionheart.
In the start of the summer 2007 Daniel undertook his so far biggest challenge by starting rehearsals of Jesus Christ Superstar, Danish National Tour. He played the leading part of Jesus in Danish language for 65 performances in 45 cities all over Denmark. The production was then extended at FOLKETEATRET.dk in Copenhagen for another 30 performances in 2008.
With premiere May 10. 2008 Daniel Eriksson once again played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar. This time the language was German, a debut for Daniel, and the venue was Theater der Stadt Koblenz in south-west Germany.
The following season, 2008-2009, the Intendantin of Theater der Stadt Koblenz offered Daniel to be part of her final production after 10 years as director and head of the theatre. The piece was MERLIN - oder das wüste Land, a gigantic play by one of Germanys biggest contemporary playwriters - Tankred Dorst.
For Daniel to take the leap into straight play acting, and in german language, as well as being hired as the composer of the music for the piece was a big challange. Daniel took it on and played Sir Gawain, one of the leading roles.
In the same season, 2008/2009 Daniel had the opportunity to be a part of the creation of PAUSE, a contemporary dance piece by Kirstine ilum. It premiered in Copehagen May 2009 and Daniel was the composer, graphic designer and head of PR/marketing.
Then came Jekyll & Hyde. Daniel Eriksson got the offer to take on the complex and challenging double role of Dr Jekyll / Mr Hyde at Theater Nordhausen in Germany, thus in german language. The production premiered April 9. 2010 and was prolonged into the season of 2010/2011.
In the second half of 2010 Daniel Eriksson was part of the creative team creating MaMa, a creation comtemporary dance/fysical theatre piece by Kirstine ilum, DK and Marek Zawalski, PL/NL. Daniel composed all the music for MaMa which premiered at the Junge Hunde Festival, Århus, DK, November 12. 2010 and had its swedish premiere at Inkonst, Malmö, SE, December 3. 2010. Daniel was also responsible for the graphic design.
To then shift gears and also country Daniel signed up for the Austrian Original Cast of Miss Saigon to play the part of Engineer, or as the character is named in the german translations-Chef-im-Ring. The production premiered February 3. 2011 at Stadtheater Klagenfurt, Austria with it final show scheduled for August 13. 2011.
Daniel´s concert credits include; musical theater- and jazz collaborations with Borås Symphony Orchestra, Göteborgsmusiken, Ballroom Big Band and funkgigs with BODYSNATCHERS all over Scandinavia in venues such as Nefertiti, Klubb Blå, Vita Bergs Parken and others.
